ABOUT THE ARTIST
Dr. Meaghan Fitzgerald is an abstract artist, dance choreographer, and psychotherapist based in Chattanooga, TN. Her artwork mixes bold with whimsy and is deeply informed by her social work and dance backgrounds. Meaghan has a passion for helping people feel seen, overcome barriers, harness innate gifts, and feel empowered. Meaghan also values the authentic expression found in modern and contemporary dance where movements and shapes made are often unique to the dancer and/or choreographer. Her visual art blends vibrant colors with texture and movement. Meaghan’s creative process involves a sense of playfulness in motion— painting in multiple layers with many overlapping colors, shapes, and textures to mimic the complexities of the human mind. Her work is a way to transfer feelings and themes of her own life in such a way that viewers can connect and come away feeling seen and empowered. Meaghan’s dance choreography pursuits enhance her art practice, giving her inspiration for silhouettes, motions, and textural emphases. While she is professionally trained to explore thoughts and emotions through words, sometimes the best way to convey meaning is through art.
